Imagine you're at church, and suddenly someone starts speaking in a language no one knows, like it’s from another world. This is called speaking in tongues, or glossolalia. Some people think it's like the Holy Spirit giving them a special gift to talk to God. It happens mostly in groups that believe strongly in this kind of spiritual experience.
Examples
- During Sunday service, a girl starts talking quickly and nobody understands her, she’s speaking in tongues.
- A man at church suddenly shouts out in a language that sounds like Spanish or French, even though he doesn’t know either.
- After singing a hymn together, the group all begins to speak in different unknown languages simultaneously.
