Why Are Prime Numbers So Special?

Imagine you're playing with blocks, and some of them can't be split into smaller groups, those are like prime numbers. They only have two friends: one and themselves. Just like how 2 is the only even prime number, it’s special in its own way. Prime numbers are like the smallest pieces that build bigger numbers.

  1. A pizza cut into 2 slices is prime, you can’t divide it further without making smaller slices.
  2. If your toy box has only 7 toys, you can’t split them evenly between two friends, that’s a prime number!
  3. You have 13 marbles. No matter how you try to group them, there’s always one left over.
