Imagine you're playing with blocks, and some of them can't be split into smaller groups, those are like prime numbers. They only have two friends: one and themselves. Just like how 2 is the only even prime number, it’s special in its own way. Prime numbers are like the smallest pieces that build bigger numbers.
Examples
- A pizza cut into 2 slices is prime, you can’t divide it further without making smaller slices.
- If your toy box has only 7 toys, you can’t split them evenly between two friends, that’s a prime number!
- You have 13 marbles. No matter how you try to group them, there’s always one left over.
