How Do Bees Communicate with Dances?

Bees do a special dance when they find food. When a bee comes back to the hive after finding something tasty, it does a little wiggly dance to tell the other bees where the food is. The dance shows how far away the food is and which way to go. It’s like giving directions with a happy twirl!

Examples

  1. A bee comes back from a flower field and does a happy little dance on the hive floor, telling all the other bees to go that way.
  2. If there’s a lot of honey nearby, the bees do a quick round dance instead of a wiggly one.
  3. Sometimes you can see bees buzzing in circles around another bee who is dancing, they’re trying to understand where the food is!
