Long ago, people didn’t have money like we do today. They used things like grain or animals to trade with each other. But that was tricky, how do you know if a pig is worth the same as a bag of grain? One day, someone had an idea: what if they made little metal disks and said, these are money? That’s how coins came to be!
Examples
- A farmer trades a few coins for extra grain instead of trading his whole goat.
- A child gives a coin to buy candy from the corner shop.
- Two friends agree on how many coins each person should give for a game.
