A non linearity is just something that changes in a wobbly or tricky way instead of being smooth and easy.
Imagine you're pushing your toy car along the floor. If it moves straight and steady every time, like going from one side of the room to the other without any bumps, that's linear, simple and predictable. But if the floor is bumpy, or there are ramps and hills, the car goes up, then down, then maybe even stops for a moment before zooming forward again. That’s non linear, it doesn’t follow a straight path.
Like a Bumpy Ride
Think of your favorite slide at the park. If it was just one long straight slide, that would be linear. But if it had twists and turns, or you went up a hill before sliding down, that’s non linearity in action! Your speed changes as you go up and down, making the ride more exciting but also harder to predict.
Non linear things are like those tricky slides, they make life (or math) more fun, but also a little messier.
