Ethiopia is having a big argument between two groups who want to be in charge.
Imagine you and your friend both want to be the boss of your toy box. You say it should be your turn to pick what toys come out first, and your friend says they should do it. So you start a little fight, pushing and pulling until someone wins, or maybe you both agree on something new.
That's kind of what’s happening in Ethiopia. Two groups want control over the same area, like two kids fighting for who gets to pick the next game. One group is called the Tigray people, and they used to be really strong leaders in Ethiopia. The other group wants to take over from them.
At first, it was just a little disagreement, like arguing about whose turn it is, but now it has turned into a big war with lots of people getting hurt, kind of like when you both grab the toy box and tip it all over. That’s why Ethiopia feels like it's at war with itself, because parts of the country are fighting each other, even though they’re all part of the same big family.
