Like a Playground Bullies Getting Bigger
Imagine you're at the playground, and there's one kid who always pushes you on the swings. At first, it's just a little nudge. But after a while, that same kid starts pushing you harder every day. Your body feels more bothered by that push, like your allergies feel more bother every year.
Like a Favorite Snack Getting More Tasty
Now imagine you have a favorite snack, let’s say chocolate chip cookies. The first time you eat them, they're just okay. But the next time, they taste better. After many times, those cookies are amazing. Your body is like that, it gets more sensitive to things you see or touch often, like pollen from trees or dust mites in your bed.
So every year, when you meet up with those same allergies again, your body says, "Oh, here you are again! I remember how much I didn’t like you last time!" and it gets a little more bothered, just like that playground bully getting bigger.
Examples
- Imagine your immune system is like a guard dog, every year, it gets more excited by the same trigger.
- It's like having a friend who keeps surprising you with bigger parties every year.
