Why weren't Indians converted en masse to Islam or Christianity?

It’s like having a big party and not inviting everyone, some people just didn’t show up.

Indians had many religions, like Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and others, and they were happy with their own traditions, stories, and ways of life. When Islam and Christianity came from faraway lands, it was like a new group of friends showing up at the party, but not everyone wanted to leave their old friends behind.

Imagine you’re playing your favorite game with your best friends, and someone comes in saying they want to change the rules. Would you jump right in? Maybe not, you’d probably ask, “Why should I change the way we play?” That’s what many Indians felt: they didn’t need a new religion if their old one worked just fine.

Some People Joined In

But some did join, like kings and soldiers who saw benefits from switching. It was kind of like trading your favorite toy for a bigger one, but not everyone wanted to trade.

So even though Islam and Christianity came in strong, they didn’t take over the whole party, only parts of it! It’s like having a big party and not inviting everyone, some people just didn’t show up.
