Why People Think the World is Flat?

The world seems flat because it looks like a big piece of paper when you're standing on it.

Imagine you're playing with your toy cars on a very long table. From where you're sitting, the table looks flat, and it is! But if you were to walk all the way to the edge of the table, you might see that it actually curves around like a circle. That’s what happens when you’re on Earth, it's round, but from where you are, it feels flat.

When you look at the sky, the sun and moon seem to roll across the ground just like they're on a big piece of paper. If the world were really curved, you'd see something different, like how the horizon changes when you go up in a tree or ride a bike.

People used to think the world was flat because that’s all they could see, just like how a bug on a big pancake would only see the top of it. But one day, someone decided to sail far away and found out that the Earth was actually round, like a ball!
