Why Is the Moon So Bright at Night?

The moon is like a big mirror in the sky. When the sun shines on it, it reflects light back to Earth. Sometimes we see more of that reflected light because of where the moon is in its path around Earth, just like when you shine a flashlight on a ball and only half of it lights up at first.
