Gibraltar is British because it has been part of Britain for a very long time, like how your favorite toy stays yours even after many years.
A Long-Time Friend
Imagine you and your friend share a special sandbox in the playground. Even though other kids come and go, you and your friend always keep playing together, so that sandbox becomes your special spot. Gibraltar is like that sandbox. It has been with Britain for over 200 years, ever since British soldiers came to live there. People from Gibraltar are called Gibraltarians, and they have their own way of speaking and living, but they still choose to be part of Britain.
A Strong Bond
Sometimes, people might want to change who they're with, like if you wanted to play with a new group of kids. But Gibraltar has stayed British because the people there like being connected to Britain, just like how you might still choose your best friend even when others are around. And every now and then, Britain and Spain (Gibraltar’s other neighbor) have had fun arguments, but that doesn’t change who stays where!
