Bread used to be cheap, but now it’s expensive because a lot of things have gotten more costly. The people who grow the wheat, the ones who turn it into flour, and even the bakers all need money for their work, and they ask for more when things are harder. Plus, there's less wheat around sometimes, which means bread has to cost more to make.
