What Does It Mean to Be Prime?
Imagine you have 13 candies. If you want to share them equally, the only ways are:
- Give all 13 to one person
- Give 1 candy to each of 13 people
You can't split them into groups like 2 or 3 without having leftovers, that’s what makes prime numbers special.
Why Is 13 Different from Numbers Like 6?
Take 6 candies instead. You could:
- Share with 2 people (3 each)
- Share with 3 people (2 each)
But 13? If you try to share them with 2 friends, one gets 6 and the other gets 7, not equal! That’s why 13 is a prime number, but 6 isn’t.13 is prime because it can only be divided evenly by 1 and itself, like a shy kid who only wants to play with their best friend and no one else.
