Why Does The Number Of Days In A Month Vary ?

The number of days in each month is different because months were made to match how years used to be counted, and that was based on the moon.

Long ago, people watched the moon, which changes shape every month. It goes from a full moon to no moon and back again, that takes about 29 or 30 days. So they made months have around that many days too!

Some months had 30 days, some had 31, and one even had only 28 or 29 days, that’s February, the shortest month.

Later on, people wanted to match up their calendar with how the sun moves. That's when they added extra days to some months so everything could line up nicely. It was like giving some months an extra cookie or two!

That’s why we have months with different numbers of days, it’s all about matching the moon, the sun, and the way time works on Earth! 🌕☀️
