Like a Swing Set
Imagine you're on a swing set. When you push off, you go up and then come back down, but if someone keeps pushing you, you just keep going higher and higher without falling all the way to the ground. That's kind of like what happens with Earth.
The Sun is like the person giving the push. It pulls the Earth toward it, this pull is called gravity. But Earth isn’t just pulled straight in; it’s also moving sideways, so instead of crashing into the Sun, it goes around and around, that’s why we have years!
No Floor, Just Space
Space doesn't have a floor like the ground you walk on every day. So when Earth moves, it keeps going in its path because nothing is stopping it from floating there. It's not falling down, it's just moving in a big circle around the Sun, like how you move on a swing without falling off completely.
It’s all about motion and pull, no magic needed!
Examples
- If there were no gravity, the Earth would float away into space forever.
- The Moon is also floating in space because of the same reason.
