Why We Need Time Zones
Time zones make things easier for everyone, you don’t have to worry about being out of sync with your friends or the TV schedule just because you’re on a different part of Earth.
How It Works
The world is divided into time zones, like slices of a pie. Each zone has its own time, and they change as you move east or west.
Examples
- If you live in New York and your friend lives in Tokyo, you might be going to bed at the same local time, but it’s actually midnight in one city and noon in the other!
- Imagine watching a movie with friends, if they’re on a different time zone, their clocks would show a completely different time while you're all together.
- Going on a trip across the world means your watch will change its time as you move from one place to another, like moving from London to New York.
