A Greeting Like a High-Five
The Sign of Peace and Agreement
Long ago, people used to fight when they met new people. But if two people shook hands, it meant they were not going to fight, they wanted to be friends or make a deal. It was like saying, “I promise I won’t hit you!”
Today, we still use this old habit as a greeting. When you shake someone’s hand, you are showing that you are kind, and you believe in them, just like when you hold hands with your friend at the park!
