Why Do We Need Sleep to Remember Things?

Sleep helps our brain tidy up and store memories. Imagine your brain is like a toy box, during the day, you throw in all kinds of toys (memories). When you sleep, your brain sorts them out so they don’t get mixed up.

What Happens at Night

While you're sleeping, especially in deep sleep, your brain goes through a special cleaning process. It moves memories from one part of the brain to another, like moving toys from a messy room to storage so you can find them easily later.

If you don’t get enough sleep, it's like leaving your toy box open all day, everything gets jumbled and hard to remember.
