Sleep helps your brain remember things. Imagine you're playing with building blocks during the day, you learn how to stack them up. When you sleep, your brain goes through all those blocks and puts them in order so you can use them again tomorrow. Without sleep, it's like leaving the blocks scattered on the floor, hard to find and even harder to build with.
Examples
- A kid who studies before bed remembers the lesson better the next day than a kid who stayed up late watching cartoons.
- You wake up after a good night's sleep and can remember your new friend’s name, but if you didn’t sleep well, you forget it almost immediately.
- After learning multiplication tables during school, a child who sleeps well at night can recall them easily the next day.
