Why Do We Get Stuck in Mental Loops?

Sometimes your brain feels like a record player that just won't stop playing the same song. This happens when you worry or think about something over and over again. It is called rumination.

Why it Happens

Your brain tries to solve problems by thinking about them. But sometimes, instead of fixing the problem, your brain gets stuck in a circle. You might think about a mistake you made at school or something that upset your family.

How to Stop It

You can break the loop by doing something different. Go for a walk, play with a pet, or draw a picture. When your body moves, it helps your mind move too.
