Why Do We Get Sick?

What Happens?

When tiny germs like viruses or bacteria try to enter your body, they want to make a home. Your body is like a castle with guards.

The Guards

These guards are called white blood cells. They patrol the halls looking for strangers. When they find a germ, they grab it and eat it up! Sometimes, other guards send out special sticky nets called antibodies to trap more germs.

Why Do You Feel Bad?

Sometimes your body gets too excited. It raises the temperature (fever) to cook the bad guys. Your muscles might ache because they are working hard. This is good! It means your guards are fighting bravely.
