When we are sick, our bodies work really hard to fight germs. This uses up a lot of energy and makes us feel cold, just like when you run around and get tired. Your body might even shake a little, that’s called shivering, because it is trying to make you warmer.
Examples
- You’re lying in bed with a sore throat and suddenly feel like you're outside in the snow.
- Your little brother has a fever but starts shivering even though he's wrapped in blankets.
- You have the flu, and it feels like your whole body is going through a cold snap.
