Why Do We Dream In Colour?

We dream in colour because our brain uses colour to make our dreams feel more like real life.

Imagine you're playing with your toys, some are red, some are blue, and others are green. When you sleep, your brain is still playing with its own toys, but instead of plastic ones, it uses pictures in your mind. These pictures can have colour, just like the toys you know.

Why Do We See Colours In Dreams?

During the day, your eyes see different things, bright lights, pretty skies, and your favourite shirt. Your brain remembers these colours and stores them away. When you're sleeping, it uses these memories to create dreams that feel more like what you experience when you’re awake.

Sometimes, though, you might dream in black and white, just like old TV shows! That happens when your brain is using a different part for dreaming, like when you're very tired or have been watching too much black-and-white TV before bedtime.
