When we're sad, our brains send a message to our bodies telling them to cry. Tears come from special glands in our eyes called lacrimal glands, and they help us feel better by letting out all that emotion. It’s like giving your feelings a big hug!
Examples
- When your friend breaks up with you, you feel so sad that you start crying right there in the hallway.
- You get really upset when your favorite team loses and cry all the way home.
- After watching a sad movie, you wipe away tears with a tissue as you laugh at the ending.
