Why Do We Clap When We’re Entertained?

We clap to say "I liked that!" when we’re watching something fun, like a show or a dance.

Imagine you're sitting at a table with your friends, and someone tells a really funny joke. You laugh, and then you raise your hands and go “Clap! Clap!”, that’s how people show they had a good time. It's like giving a high-five to the person who made you laugh.

Why We Use Our Hands

Our hands are very useful. When we're happy or excited, we use them to show it. Clapping is just one way of doing that, it’s like when you cheer for your favorite team in a game, but with your hands instead of your voice.

Clapping Is Like Saying "Thank You"

When someone does something nice, like singing a song or telling a story, clapping is how we say "Thanks!" It's the same as giving them a hug or saying “I love that!”, just with our hands. So next time you hear people clapping, think of it as their way of saying, “That was awesome!”
