We breathe through our nose more than our mouth because it feels better and makes us healthier. The nose warms up the air before we inhale it, which is like wearing a coat for your lungs! It also helps you smell things, and it filters out dirt from the air, kind of like a little vacuum cleaner inside your head. Your mouth breathes too, but it doesn’t do these cool tricks, so most of the time, your nose does the job.
Examples
- When you breathe through the mouth, you can feel it more than when you breathe through the nose.
