When we feel embarrassed, our body gets a little shy, literally. A part of the brain called the amygdala sends a message to make our face red by widening blood vessels in our skin. It’s like when you’re caught doing something silly and your whole face feels like it’s on fire!
Examples
- You trip in front of your class and your face turns bright red.
- Your teacher calls you out for not doing your homework, and you feel the heat on your cheeks.
- You spill coffee on someone important and suddenly your whole face feels like it’s burning.
