Blushing happens when we feel shy or nervous. When our brain senses that something is wrong, like being embarrassed, it sends a message to the blood vessels in our face to open up. More blood flows to the skin on our face, and that makes us turn red, just like a tomato! It's our body’s way of showing we're feeling something intense.
Examples
- You trip in front of your class and feel your face turn bright red.
- Your crush asks you to dance at the school party, and suddenly your cheeks are on fire.
- You accidentally say something silly in a meeting and feel your face grow warm.
