We blink to keep our eyes wet and happy. Our eyes are like little deserts, they lose water when we look at things for a long time. Blinking is like giving them a drink of water every few seconds, so they don’t get dry or tired.
Why We Need Blinking
When you blink, your eyelids spread tears across the surface of your eyes. Tears are like a natural liquid soap that helps keep our eyes clean and comfortable. If we didn’t blink enough, our eyes would feel scratchy and tired, just like when your skin gets dry in the winter.
Blinking Is Automatic
Your brain controls blinking automatically, you don’t even have to think about it! That’s why you might blink more often if you’re reading a book or staring at a screen.
