Why do Ugandan women work abroad despite facing abuse?

Ugandan women often go to work abroad even when they are treated badly because they hope for a better life for themselves and their families.

Imagine you have a toy box full of broken toys, but your friend has a shiny new toy that works perfectly. Even though your friend sometimes takes your favorite toy without asking, you still want to be friends with them because you know they can give you something amazing.

That’s like what happens to many Ugandan women. They leave their homes and go to faraway places where people might not treat them kindly, like taking their favorite toys, but they hope to earn more money so they can send it back home to help their families.

Sometimes, the abuse is a problem, just like when your friend takes your toy without asking. But even with that, the promise of better things later makes it worth it for many women. They believe that if they work hard abroad, one day they’ll come back with more toys, or even a whole new toy box!
