Some people see colors differently because their eyes have special little sensors called cones. Cones are like tiny color detectors in the eye, they catch light and send messages to the brain. Some people have more of one type of cone, or even extra ones! That’s why some people might see a lot more shades than others do.
Examples
- If you look at a red apple, someone else might see it as purple, because of how their cones work.
- Your friend might think a green shirt is blue, that's color blindness in action.
- Some people can tell the difference between two shades of yellow that most people would say are the same.
