Imagine your brain is like a radio station. Sometimes, even when the music isn't playing, it can still hear the song, that's what happens when people hear music in their head. It's called involuntary musical imagery.
How It Works
This happens because of special brain cells that remember songs and rhythms. When you're thinking about something else or resting, these cells start playing the music like a little song inside your mind.
Examples
- A child imagines a lullaby playing inside their head while they fall asleep.
- A person hears the same song on the radio twice, once when it's playing, and again later when they're walking home.
- You hear a jingle in your head after seeing an advertisement for a product.
