Imagine your hair is like a rope. Straight hair is like a straight rope, but curly hair is like a rope that's been twisted, it’s shaped differently from the start! This happens because of special proteins inside our hair called keratin. Some people have more twist in their hair shafts, which makes their hair curl naturally.
Examples
- Imagine your mom has curly hair, and so do you, it's because of the way your hair shafts are shaped inside.
- If your friend’s hair is straight like a ruler, but yours looks like a spiral staircase, that's why your hair curls naturally.
- Some people’s hair behaves like a spring when they grow it out, that’s why it curls.
