Freckles are like little spots of extra color on the skin. They happen when some parts of your skin get more sunlight than others, and your body makes more pigment there. This is why freckles often show up in people with light skin, they're just more sensitive to sun. Some people have a special gene that makes them more likely to get freckles.
Examples
- A child with fair skin gets freckles after playing outside all day.
- Your mom has freckles on her nose, she got them when she was a kid, too.
