Freckles are like little sunburns on your skin. Some people have more of them because they get more sun, or because their body makes less pigment called melanin. It’s kind of like how some kids are taller than others, it depends on their genes and the things around them.
Examples
- A child who plays outside all day might get more freckles than one who stays indoors.
- Some people have freckles on their nose but not on their cheeks, it depends where the sun hits them most.
- People with fair skin may notice their freckles getting darker in the summer.
