Imagine your hair is like a rope made of tiny fibers. If the rope has a twist in it, the hair curls, if it’s straight, the hair stays smooth. Some people get this twist from their parents because of special instructions in their DNA called genes.
Examples
- A curly-haired person has a twist in their rope-like hair, while someone with straight hair doesn’t.
- If you have a parent who has curly hair, there’s more chance you might too.
- Wavy hair is like when the rope isn’t fully twisted, it's in between.
