Imagine two cookie jars, one has a lot of cookies, the other barely has any. Some countries are like that big cookie jar with lots of cookies (wealth), while others have only a few (poverty). This happens because some countries get more cookies from their work and trade, but also give away many of their cookies to others. That's why one jar is full and another is almost empty.
Examples
- A big cookie jar is full because it gets more cookies from a bakery every week.
- A small cookie jar gives away most of its cookies to help someone else who has none.
- The big jar keeps getting bigger while the small jar stays tiny.
