Why Mirrors Work
When you look in a mirror, it shows you what you look like because it reflects the light that comes from you. The mirror takes the light from your face and sends it back to your eyes, so you can see yourself.
Imagine you're standing in front of a shiny wall, that's kind of like a mirror. It bounces the light back at you just as well as a real mirror would.
Examples
- Looking in a mirror helps you brush your teeth straight.
- A car's side mirror lets you see if another car is coming.
- You use a mirror when you're getting ready for school.
