People have favourite foods because some things just make them really happy when they eat them.
Imagine you have a toy that makes you laugh every time you play with it, that’s your favourite toy. Foods work the same way. Some foods taste so good, or feel so nice in your mouth, that you want to eat them again and again.
Favourite foods are like your best friends at lunchtime. They make you smile, they give you energy, and sometimes they even remind you of happy times, like when you had a really fun day at the park and then ate ice cream afterward.
Sometimes, people like certain foods because they grew up eating them. It's like how you get used to your favourite blanket, it feels just right, and nothing else quite compares.
Other times, people try new things and find something that tastes amazing. That’s when a food can become their new best friend, and maybe even replace the old one!
