Imagine you’re playing hide-and-seek, and you see your friend hide behind a tree. But when you go to look for them later, they aren’t there, yet you still think they are hiding somewhere else. This is like having a false belief. We all have false beliefs sometimes because our brain fills in the gaps with what it thinks should be true instead of what’s actually happening.
Examples
- You think it’s raining outside, but you’re actually inside watching TV.
- You believe you have all your homework completed, even though you forgot one assignment.
