Why Do Patterns Appear in Random Numbers?

Random numbers are like the rolling of a dice, you expect any number to come up. But sometimes, when we look at lots of them together, we can see shapes and lines that seem too perfect to be random. It's like finding a secret message in a pile of confetti!

Imagine you pick 100 numbers between 1 and 100, randomly chosen, and then you write them all out in order. You might find numbers repeating, or maybe they line up strangely. That’s how random number patterns can form.

Examples

  1. A child drops 10 marbles on the floor, and they form a neat triangle, not because it's planned, but just by chance.
  2. You flip a coin ten times and get heads five times in a row, seems strange, but randomness can do that.
  3. You roll a die six times, and you see all numbers from 1 to 6 appear exactly once, looks like a pattern, but it might be just luck.
