Imagine you're playing with blocks. You can tell when one pile has more blocks than another without counting them all, that's your number sense at work! It helps us understand how many things we see, even if we don’t count them out loud. Number sense is like an invisible friend who helps you know which group has the most toys, or which basket has the fewest apples.
Examples
- You see two cookies on the table and know there are more than one without counting them.
- You have five toys in your hand and can tell when one is taken away.
- You guess that a basket has about ten apples even if you don't count each one.
