Mountains turn green in spring because the snow melts and plants start to grow. Imagine it's winter, and all the trees are covered in snow, they look gray or brown. But when it gets warmer in spring, the snow starts to melt, and little plants called grasses and shrubs come out of the ground. They get sunlight and water from the melted snow, so they turn green, making the whole mountain look alive again.
