Mirrors do not actually reverse left and right. Imagine you're facing a mirror, holding up your hand to say hello. The mirror shows the same motion, but it looks like your hand is on the opposite side of your body. That's why we think mirrors switch left and right. It’s all about where you’re looking from!
Examples
- If you wave your right hand in front of a mirror, it looks like your reflection is waving its left hand.
- When you smile at a mirror, your reflection smiles back, but the left and right sides are swapped.
- You brush your teeth on the left side of your mouth, and your reflection brushes its right side.
