Why Do Humans Cry? (And No Other Animal Does)?

Humans cry because they have special feelings that make them feel really strong emotions, like sadness or happiness, and crying is their way of letting those feelings out.

Imagine you're playing with your favorite toy, and suddenly it breaks. You might feel a big rush of sadness, and then tears come out of your eyes, just like water from a little fountain. That's crying!

Why Only Humans?

Most animals don’t cry because they don't have the same kind of feelings we do. But humans are different, we can think about things that happened in the past or imagine what might happen tomorrow. This makes our brain feel very busy, and sometimes it needs to let out some emotions through tears.

Crying is like having a little helper inside your body that says, “Hey, I need to help you feel better!” It's not magic, it’s just how humans work.
