Ghosts only appear at night because it's easier to see them in the dark. When it's bright outside, your eyes get used to the light, so you can’t see things that are hiding or moving quietly. But when it’s dark inside, ghosts seem more mysterious, and more frightening.
Examples
- A ghost appears in the hallway only when the lights are off.
- A ghostly figure shows up on the stairs right after you turn off the living room light.
