Why Do Cats Pur?

Cats make a low humming sound called purring. It happens when tiny muscles in their throat shake very fast. This makes the air vibrate and creates that happy noise we all love.

Why Do They Do It?

Kittens start purring as soon as they are born to tell their mom they are okay and hungry. Adult cats use it for many reasons:

  • To say "I am happy" when you pet them.
  • To say "I am scared" or "I hurt" like a bandage for themselves.
  • To talk to other animals without making loud noises.

The sound is so special because it might help their bones stay strong and heal faster. It works like a little built-in healer! > Cats have a superpower in their throat that lets them purr while they breathe in AND out.
