How It Works
A cat's eyes are built for night vision. They see movement very well but do not focus on stationary objects as closely. When you move the red dot quickly, it looks like prey scurrying away. The color red stands out clearly against most floor colors.
- The dog has a cone of color vision; cats are more like colorblind people who see blues and yellows best.
- Red appears dark but distinct to them.
- The speed mimics a real insect or mouse running across grass.
Why They Get Mad
Have you ever seen a cat scratch at the wall where the dot stopped? This is because they try to grab the light itself. Since they cannot catch the photon, it feels like a puzzle they failed to solve. It is not frustration with you; it is just the mystery of the disappearing animal.
Examples
- My tabby scratches under the sofa where the red light disappeared.
- The dog watches the laser with its head tilted, trying to figure it out.
