Caterpillars turn into butterflies through a magical process called metamorphosis. Imagine you're in a cozy room, eating and growing for weeks. One day, you get sleepy and fall asleep inside a cocoon. When you wake up, you’ve grown wings and can fly! That’s what happens to caterpillars, they sleep inside a chrysalis or cocoon and come out as butterflies.
Examples
- A caterpillar eats all day to grow big enough for its transformation.
- Inside a cocoon, it sleeps and changes into a butterfly.
