Why Did the Ancient Romans Use So Many Different Coins?

Ancient Romans used many different coins because they needed money that could be used for many things, just like you need different types of toys to play different games.

Imagine you have a piggy bank full of coins, but all the coins are the same size and shape. That would be boring! It would also make it hard to know how much money you had if you wanted to buy something big or small.

The Romans used different coins like you use different playthings, some coins were good for buying a loaf of bread, others for paying for a whole cart full of fruit. Each coin had its own value, kind of like how each toy has its own purpose in your playtime.

Also, the Roman Empire was very big, and people from all over used these coins. Sometimes they needed to trade with other countries, and having different coins made it easier for everyone to understand what things were worth, just like you might use different kinds of blocks to build different towers!
